A BRUSSELS BAROQUE GAME PARK VERDURE TAPESTRY, 17TH CENTURY, : A BRUSSELS BAROQUE GAME PARK VERDURE TAPESTRY, 17TH CENTURY, woven in silk and wool, centering two spotted leopards frolicking amidst tall shade trees concealing a curious parrot opposite a bird in flight, within verdant foliage before rolling hills topped by a distant chateau and mountainous landscape, enclosed by a rectangular border of scrolling acanthus and blossoming sprays laced with leafy vines interspersed with fruit clusters, centered by later blue stripe trim and professionally lined with linen panel and suspended from brass loops. Height: 9' 2 1/4" Width: 7' 3 3/4"  Provenance: Property from a Prominent River Oaks Estate Collection, Houston, Texas. Condition Good condition for antique tapestries of this age and materials including but not limited to expected faded colors throughout, small splits, old repairs, and restorations, blue stripe trim is of a later date. This tapestry has possibly been reduced in size from a much larger tapestry but even so, it was done successfully allowing its' use in modern size interiors. It was probably professionally cleaned and linen backed at some time in the not too distant past and is ready as is for a new home.      Simpson Galleries strongly encourages in-person inspection of items by the bidder.
